Who we are

Seda Serhatlioglu, RM, MSc, PhD

Welcome to MidwifeVoice.com! I’m Seda, an experienced midwife with a strong academic background and a passion for empowering women throughout their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.

My Educational Journey:

With over 8 years of academic record, I hold a Master’s degree and a Doctorate in Midwifery from Istanbul-Cerrahpasa University, Turkey. My research studies focused on important areas of women’s health and well-being.

In my master’s thesis, I explored the factors influencing birth satisfaction, aiming to enhance women’s birthing experiences and promote positive outcomes. For my doctorate studies, I specialized in breastfeeding problems and postpartum care, providing evidence-based guidance to overcome common challenges and promote successful breastfeeding relationships.

After completing my doctoral studies, I pursued postdoctorate studies at Rigshospitalet -Copenhagen University, in the department of The Interdisciplinary Research Unit for Women’s, Children’s, and Family Health. I engaged in research focusing on violence among pregnant women, seeking to understand its prevalence, impact, and ways to provide support and resources to those in need. This research has equipped me with valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by pregnant women and has fueled my commitment to advocate for their safety, well-being, and empowerment.

Expertise:

I have expertise in various areas, including breastfeeding, birth satisfaction, pregnancy yoga, relactation, and tandem breastfeeding. I understand the intricacies and importance of each of these aspects in supporting women during their unique journeys. Over the years, I have provided breastfeeding training to hundreds of mothers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to establish successful breastfeeding relationships with their infants.

Clinical Experience:

Prior to my academic accomplishments and research endeavors, I gained extensive clinical experience in Public Health Center, Kas, Antalya. I have worked closely with women during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, witnessing the transformative power of comprehensive and compassionate midwifery care. This hands-on experience has deepened my understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of women during this significant time in their lives.

Academic Role as an Assistant Professor:

Currently, I am employed as an Assistant Professor at Antalya Bilim University in Turkey. Despite working remotely from Denmark, I am privileged to share my knowledge, expertise, and passion for midwifery with the next generation of midwives. I am dedicated to providing high-quality education, mentorship, and guidance to aspiring midwifery professionals, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide exceptional care to women and families.
